Leah’s story

When Leah first came to see me, she was in the process of getting divorced.  She was living on her own with her young son, and juggling regaining her professional registration with her work.  She was finding it a challenge to accept her divorce and was concerned about coping on her own.

I was worried about learning to live again and accepting what had happened. I wanted to feel confident in my ability to manage my life, finances etc on my own. I wanted to cope and be happy, and be able to be a good Mum to my boy. I was also feeling very guilty about what had happened, and I wanted to be able to communicate effectively with my ex-husband.

I felt angry, upset, sad, depressed and lonely. I felt like a complete failure.

Claire has helped me to change the way I look at what has happened, and this has helped me to change my outlook on my whole life. It has changed how I approach situations both personally and professionally. I know now that I can choose how I react to things, and I can write my own story. I can reframe what has happened and tell myself this new story.

Claire has also helped me to understand my feelings and emotions so that I can manage them better. I can be curious, not furious!

I know now that I can’t change what has happened, but I can change how I react to the situation. This is true for all aspects of my life, and it is my new philosophy, along with “do the next right thing”.

And smiling – even if you don’t feel like it, it actually makes you feel better.

I have made a lot of shifts through my work with Claire:
Now, I set myself goals and action plans. I find it very useful to write things down that I am going to do or want to achieve. Telling my friends or sisters my plans also helps me to carry them through.

I now feel and more importantly believe that I am good enough. I have never felt good enough in my whole life. This is a massive shift for me.

When I have a bad day, I have strategies of how to cope with this. The bad days are less frequent, and I have Claire’s strategies to help me to feel better more quickly.

I love nature and animals and remember a time I was growled at by a lioness. They are amazing. I have a lioness inside me. Claire helped me to find her. She is confident, strong and powerful. They are also amazing mothers. I use this attitude to help me to stay positive and focused on moving forward in the difficult times.

Claire is amazing. She is an inspiration. She is professional whilst being approachable. She is very kind and genuinely seems to care. She is able to question my views and thoughts about things to challenge my way of thinking. I have loved working with Claire and will miss her help and support.

In years to come I want my son to look back at this time in our life and think wow! My mum handled that really well and I am proud of her. I want him to know that I did my best for him.

I believe that since working with Claire that my son will think this – and this is why I would recommend Claire. She has helped me change the rest of my life.

I now feel positive about the future. I now know and believe that I am good enough. That I can do anything – I am the Lioness! I am Confident, Strong and Powerful. After each session with Claire I feel amazing and genuinely believe that I can do this.

Thank you, Claire, you really have helped me to change my life x
