Rose’s story

Rose was referred to me by her friend, who had heard about my work.  She was struggling to separate and rationalise all the emotions she was feeling, with the facts of her situation. Rose says:

I felt quite angry, upset and overwhelmed by the situation that I was in when I had my first session with Claire during the summer of 2020. I felt so aggrieved by the position that I was in and I was also worried and concerned at times about the possible outcomes. I also had very emotional responses to each stage of the process which I was finding challenging.

However, I also had a lot of positive feelings about the future but just found it a bit of a rollercoaster!

Claire was an expert at helping me to reflect on my situation and see everything from different angles. Claire challenged my thinking in a really good way and helped me to break down the various stages that I was going through and rationalise them.

Matrimonial law is very clinical and working with Claire helped to balance this out as she was so understanding and empathetic of my situation. She provided a huge amount of support during the more difficult stages (around the time of the hearings) yet always had such a positive and helpful way of viewing every situation and was always very much focussed on overcoming the challenging stages and moving forward.

“Stop, breathe, think, act” was of huge help to me during the process as it helped me deal with the emotional response I often had at various points. Claire also taught me about considering and writing down all the options I had before making any decisions which was extremely helpful to me, often saying, “you always have choices!”.

The biggest shift I have noticed is that I am no longer dwelling on the past or what has happened for too long. I have learnt that it is important to deal with the difficulties that have happened but to then reframe them and move forward.

Claire was extremely personable; she has a very warm, friendly and empathetic nature whilst always remaining professional and knowledgeable. Working with Claire provided a perfect combination of support, understanding and challenge for me, all of which was needed during such a difficult process.

I would absolutely recommend Claire. Divorce proceedings are such a hugely challenging process and Claire was so immensely supportive throughout all of it. Claire is also great in helping to focus on the future and moving forward. I genuinely don’t think I would be feeling anywhere near as positive about the future without having had coaching sessions with Claire. She really helped me to deal with the process, both practically and emotionally, and also shifted my mindset and ways of viewing different situations that I was going through.

I really enjoyed working with Claire – she helped me through such a difficult period in my life – more than she will ever know in fact!
